Certified Professional Dog Trainer

"Northern Tails has been a blessing to my family. We are the typical busy corporate couple that greatly appreciates the loving care our dog, Teva, receives each time we must travel. When we return, Teva displays the obvious results of the expert training Lisa provides. If I want Teva to learn something new or refresh something she already knows, Lisa "takes care of it" while we are gone.
Lisa is honest and positive. Her calming attitude has
been my sanity through puppy-hood. Lisa is never shy to tell me how I might improve my training
skills, yet still
always encourages me by
telling me the good things I am doing with Teva as well. I
can’t say enough about Lisa and her services.

Are you feeling overwhelmed at the prospect of adding dog training to your busy schedule? A board and train program might be the answer!
Dogs who come here for Boarding and Training receive undivided attention. I generally only take one dog at a time. Occasionally, there will be two or three at a time, depending on the ages and temperaments of the dogs. Boarding dogs sleep in crate in the house - not in outside kennels. During the day they will socialize with well-mannered resident dogs in-between training sessions, which is particularly valuable for bratty adolescent dogs and dogs that are a little shy.
The location is a quiet, peaceful country setting with three large fenced areas around the house and training building for dogs to romp, train and play in.
You will receive progress reports via email every few days, one follow-up training session in your home and written materials for you to reference when working with your dog.
Training methods are dog-friendly, force-free and focus on positive reinforcement. I do not use electronic shock collars (E-collars), physical punishment or harsh leash corrections.
Length of Stay ~ The length of time your dog is here will depend on the goals you have for your dog.
Two-Week Jump Start Package
This is a good program if you want to do your own training, but want
to avoid the early learning/training process. It is also a good
program for dogs who need a little brush-up
Three Week
Intermediate Package
In
addition to teaching basic obedience and manners, this package
includes light distraction training.
Five Week
Master Package
During this five-week Master Package, your dog will go on several
field trips to various locations for proofing and distraction
training. You can also request training of a specific task, such as
bring it here/release, go to bed, etc.
Brush Up
For dogs who have been here for training and need a little brush up.
This is a good option for times when you need to be out of
town...leave your dog here instead of a traditional boarding kennel.
